So the world’s largest LED light sculpture is happening outside my window. We watched the kick off tonight. It’s by artist Leo Villareal and will run for the next 2 years. It is 1.8 miles wide and 500 feet high and consists of 25,000 light-emitting diodes all up and down the Bay Bridge. It’s about time the “BB got pretty. Golden Gate’s always stealing its thunder.

I could stare at this for a while.

It’s been around for quite some time now, this trend channeling the 1980s. You can’t escape it. Especially when stores are selling shirts like this:

Meow.

I even broke down yesterday and bought a pair of hightop sneakers. Red ones. And they may or may not (they do) have a wedge heel in them. Anyway, where am I going with this? Well I was inspired by this resurrection of my childhood fashion and thought why not make a birthday card from this -specifically for us children of the 80? The inspiration is endless, but I chose a few of my favorite things from the decade including Dukes of Hazzard, crimped side ponytails, Madonna, and all things neon.

Here’s my card surrounded by actual items being sold today. See what I mean? Straight up 80s. And if you like any of them, they’re all from Urban Outfitters. Shocking I know.

If you have a friend born in the 80s who has an upcoming birthday, do check out my card on Etsy. At least check it out to see the little surprise on the back.

I made a card with this message for a loved one who was sick with cancer in the hospital. A get well card didn’t seem to cut it and all the sympathy cards out there were just too damn depressing. In tough situations when a loved one is ill, they deserve something that celebrates and empowers them. Something that says don’t give up! You rock! Fight on!  Or, to quote Journey, Don’t Stop Believin’.

I made these hand-stamped cards for Breast Cancer Awareness month and will donate the proceeds to the American Cancer Society at the end of the year.
The last image is something I’m hoping to do more of. It’s both a card and a picture in a frame. I want these cards to have some sort of backing to them so the recipient has the option of hanging it on their wall or standing it up on a table to always see.

Check them out on Etsy here.

I really want to try this. But i fear it will turn out to be some sort of crafting disaster. I wonder what picture I could use. Oh who am I kidding. It would probably be one of Jack.

Here’s just a little taste of my Pinterest addiction. Hopefully some of it can inspire a little creativity or at least a good laugh.

So this is my little disorganized workspace I use occasionally when I’m not sitting on the couch, laptop in lap. I purchased this secretary at a thrift store. It’s super sturdy, recently painted and in great condition. It sits in the bay window in my living room that I’ve carved out as my Jack’s Master “office.” The only thing it’s missing is a chair. And maybe an accompanying giant storage unit to store all of my supplies. But more so, a chair. I’m thinking of getting a ghost chair to modernize  it a bit. I like mixing old and new, wood and glass, or acrylic in this case. They’re not terribly expensive and I think I’m going to get one as my next Jack’s Master office purchase! Below are some inspirational images. Maybe one day my studio will look like one of these!

This is by far the coolest chocolate packaging I’ve ever seen. Probably one of the coolest product packaging period that I’ve ever seen. Imagine if you had a bazillion dollars to spend on wedding invitations and what you could do with this sort of design. Read more about the design here.

Nike has come out with some pretty awesome posters for March madness. This comes as no surprise, Nike always is doing something amazing thanks to the brilliant minds at Wieden+Kennedy. Even if you’re not a sports fan, you can appreciate these:

Tomorrow night is the Oscars as most of you already know. I am so out of the loop this year it’s pathetic. I think i may have seen 2 out of the 10 films nominated. I keep telling myself one year I’m going to watch all of them and then throw an Oscars party! Below are some adorable Oscar party invitation ideas I found. Twig & Thistle has some free DIY Oscar’s printables on their site. Definitely have a look.

Below are some of my personal favorites because they incorporated the movies nominated that year. Love it. View more here.
