Pretty cool stuff. I recommend watching it with the music turned up – adds to the drama.

I recently worked on an invitation for a CandyLand-themed party and collected some images that I thought would make a fantastic real-life CandyLand. Lollipop centerpieces and look at that CAKE. Every piece id candy imaginable. Yum.

Below is best though. Lombard Street here in San Francisco turned into CandyLand one day. I had the pleasure of seeing it in person too!

Today a family member of my husband’s and mine passed away from cancer. It was actually a bit of a surprise since she only found out about it in November. Unfortunately it had spread too far for chemotherapy to make much of a difference. It was amazing to me how someone could go from so alive and seemingly well, to gone in the span of 8 weeks. SadlyI should be getting used to this given how many people I’ve seen lost to cancer. It makes me angry. And yes, I want to yell FUCK CANCER because frankly no other words seem hard enough. I actually Googled the phrase just to see if other people felt the same way and came across this amazing site (funnily enough called Fuck Cancer) dedicated to educating people about cancer and how to catch it in its earlier phases. Here’s a little blurb about it:

Fuck Cancer is saving lives by changing the way cancer is treated by promoting early detection. Early detection is the surest way to prevent a lot of suffering and save a lot of lives. We can only do this through education, which is why raising awareness is just as important as raising funds.
WHY FUCK?
Because it’s what everyone is thinking. It’s a head-in-your-hands moment. It’s not sexual or violent. It’s defeated and defiant. It’s OK to have a valid emotion around us, we don’t need to be daffodils and daisies all the time. If there’s ever a time to use the word Fuck, it’s now. But if the thought of dropping the F Bomb makes you cringe, fear not- we have a censored version made with you in mind.

I’m seriously considering buying a shirt for everyone I know that feels the same way. I may go broke, but I know they’d love them. Not only is a wonderful cause, but the design is kick-ass too! Below is a sampling of some of the clever infographics they’ve designed on their site explaining different types of cancers.

And of course they have a Flickr page showing everyone wearing their Fuck Cancer shirts- here are a few of my favs:

Check out the site here!

If this doesn’t make you want to wretch, I don’t know what will. Extravagant much?

This headline pull-quote from Huff Post made me laugh.

“Let’s hunker down, get drunk and play peanut butter pranks until the storm blows over!”

In all seriousness though, I do hope the storm doesn’t do too much damage. It’s headed for my favorite childhood beach spot, Atlantic beach :(

Normally I couldn’t care less about the Kardashians and what they’re up to, but I saw this on TMZ and couldn’t help myself. My husband and I got married at the same hotel this “normal couple” got married at this weekend. I guess it was bit chaotic there with all of the Kardashian wedding guests staying at the hotel too.Fortunately everything worked out for them in the end and the K-dash Krew didn’t interrupt their wedding. AND even better, they made it on TMZ like famous celebs! A fun story to look back on and laugh about.
