I designed these invitations last year with an “adult” Halloween party in mind. Adult being in quotes because really who’s going to be acting mature at this type of party? It’s pretty much if Animal House threw a haunted party. I even included the fraternity letters “Beta Omega Omega” and a TPed drunken mummy.

The other version is straight up traffic-cone-on your-head-drunk-times. It could be interpreted as a drunken witch hat, but really it’s whatever you want it to be.

Both versions are in my Etsy shop here. Check them out and throw a haunted house party!

So I realize Halloween isn’t for a while, however anyone planning party may want to think about sending out invitations. I got to thinking about how funny and freaky it would be to receive a bloody envelope in the mail. So I got out some of my fake blood from Halloween and made bloody fingerprinted cards. Paint works too, as well as super dark red fingernail polish, but good ole fashioned  fake blood always works like a charm.

Below are 5×7 printable invitations. Just click on the image, save it to your desktop and print on 8.5×11 paper. I also included a sheet of faux bloody prints to use portions of for any paper you may want to bloody.

Sorry bad joke.

Etching in acrylic isn’t a new thing, but I have been noticing it a little more in weddings. Using this technique not just for invitations, but for menus, table numbers and more. I honestly can’t decide how I feel about it. I do like using an unconventional surface, but I feel like it should make sense with your aesthetic. I also like it when the type is designed well, clean and minimalist. Not all swirly and scripty, or heart-shaped and face-y.

These are nice though. I may have to try this technique for a wedding. I honestly have no idea how much it costs though. I’d guess as much as letterpress, but who knows? Anyone? Bueller?

This is a new take on my original SIN invitation. I played around with some new typefaces and chose some appropriate bachelorette colors of hot pink and black. I’m thinking of lining the envelopes with hot pink or red glitter paper. I think it will look pretty hot!

This couple came to me wanting to incorporate their 2 favorite poems into their silhouettes. Pretty specific huh?! We decided that the silhouettes would function as the cover to the invitation enclosure and the inside would house all of their information. Above is a peek of everything while I was busy assembling the pieces.

I think it turned out pretty sweet if I do say so myself. More to come soon!

I recently worked on an invitation for a CandyLand-themed party and collected some images that I thought would make a fantastic real-life CandyLand. Lollipop centerpieces and look at that CAKE. Every piece id candy imaginable. Yum.

Below is best though. Lombard Street here in San Francisco turned into CandyLand one day. I had the pleasure of seeing it in person too!

Tomorrow night is the Oscars as most of you already know. I am so out of the loop this year it’s pathetic. I think i may have seen 2 out of the 10 films nominated. I keep telling myself one year I’m going to watch all of them and then throw an Oscars party! Below are some adorable Oscar party invitation ideas I found. Twig & Thistle has some free DIY Oscar’s printables on their site. Definitely have a look.

Below are some of my personal favorites because they incorporated the movies nominated that year. Love it. View more here.

We were recently contacted to design a custom retirement announcement based on some previous retirement invitations we designed. Our client wanted to convert the designs into a postcard format. Here is the final product. We’re pretty thrilled with how they turned out.

Kind of has a Mad Men vibe to it – no?

Okay, I’m no copywriter so “Wedded Bus” is the best name I could come up with for this awesome wedding suite we just designed for a couple that met on the bus! They came to us wanting to incorporate their bus story and Muni pass into their wedding invitations. We decided to tell their story through a personalized bus map we did for their save the date here and utilized the Muni pass imagery in their wedding suite below:

I had the pleasure of working with a couple here in San Francisco that are getting married in the fall. They met on the local bus on their way to work and wanted to somehow include a bus element in their Save the Date. I was really excited about this challenge and all the fun possibilities. We ended up deciding on a cute personalized bus map that includes stops along the way that tell the story of their relationship from when they met, to their first date, all the way “to the Chapel.” To top it off, we designed address labels to match with their initials as bus lines K and J.
