TweetAnother oldy but goody:
To continue with my January Jones, 60s fashion obsession today, here are some of my favorite images captured of Betty Draper on Mad Men.

The Regretfully Pregnant Betty Draper

The Bitter Housewife Betty Draper

The French and Flirty Betty Draper

And my personal fav,
The Angry Shotgun-wielding Betty Draper.

This is an oldy-but goody post I did on 2SistersBlog. To get us pumped for Mad Men tonight, I thought I’d recycle it
Enjoy!
This is the first post of many I will be making about 60s fashion. I looooove it. All the gogo boots, mini skirts, big hair and crazy colors. Yes, there will be much more to come. But for now, here’s a little history fact I learned. Jean Shrimpton (pictured below) was the first to coin the term “mini skirt.” She was considered the icon of “Swinging London” and one of the world’s first super models. She actually came a little before Twiggy and broke the model mold with her long legs and slim figure. She was known for her “long hair with bangs, wide doe-eyes ,long wispy eyelashes, arched brows, and pouty lips.”
TweetI painstakingly combed through all 1000+ dresses on ModCloth’s site (I know, I know – it was torture*) – and picked out some dresses and outerwear that I think would make a fantastic statement at a holiday party. Very Mad Men-esque no? I have been eyeing the top middle dress for MONTHS now, I should just buy it and find a place to wear it!
I firmly believe too that if you’re going to be wearing a great dress, you need to top it off with a great coat, or at least a coat that is sort of in the same vein as your dress – whether it’s just a little dressier or just the same shade or style as what’s underneath. I know we all can’t afford a coat to go with each outfit (I wish) but throwing a ski coat over one of these dresses just seems wrong.
So check out some of these coats (and tiny leopard bolero) that I think would be prefect!
